How does that work?

I have been seeing all of these great animations that show how your sewing machine actually works.  Who knew?  Click here to see two animations.  The first one is for a chain stitch and the second animation shows the straight stitch.
Now there is one less thing I think works like this:

I'm laughing at the pencil sharpener pic... Love it! Hubby is an electrical engineer and he's tried to explain to me how lightbulbs work, I'm of the thought that a little person lives in the lightbulb and turns it on...
