Why do my kids' birthdays make me feel old?

Lorelei turns the ripe old age of 8 tomorrow.  She is very excited and has been bugging me to make her a white dress for her birthday.  Uh, no.  But I did make her a white, black, and yellow dress since I already had the fabric.  It was going to be a skirt for me but I suppose mommy has to make sacrifices sometimes.  I pulled the fabric from my stash, bought a bit of yellow tulle, and went to work this afternoon.  This dress took all of 90 minutes to cut and sew (thanks, in part, to using an old t-shirt).

Pretty dress. I'm sure she'll love it as much as the white one she wanted. And oh, by the way, that's a good place to say 'no'!

If turning 8 makes you feel old wait until she turns 37 like my daughter did on the 23rd!! I can't believe it - of course I had her when I was 20 but still I can't believe I am getting that old to have a 37 year old daughter.

Darling skirt/dress for your daughter. When my son turned 18----I cried. Now he is 53---how did that happen? Enjoy every day! BettyLou
